INTRO:
Welcome to the Recovery Jones Web site!
We are very pleased and honored to have the opportunity to share our unique blend of recovery with you.
DISCLAIMER:
Please be advised that we have not been endorsed nor do we represent any recovery fellowship or anyone else. We also believe that we have been careful to honor and recognize the traditions of any such recovery fellowships. We stand totally independent in what we are displaying within the pages of our web site. Our comics merely reflect how we see the world of alcoholism/drug addiction and our own personal recovery.
WHO ARE WE?
Michael Jones (artist) and I (Kevin/writer) are respectively a recovering alcoholic and addict who reside in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We have both experienced the pain, suffering, powerlessness and unmanageability of active addiction. Through the grace of God, and an active recovery program, we are both happy and content with our clean/sober time.
MISSION STATEMENT:
It is our primary purpose at Recovery Jones to share our free weekly comics/cartoons with recovering alcoholics/addicts worldwide. We believe active addiction has been a very difficult experience for each and every one of you (our brothers and sisters) in recovery. We believe that we could all could use some comic relief once in a while and we are more than willing to do our utmost to provide it (via our comics of the week) on a weekly basis. As well as showing the lighter side of recovery, we will also show the darkness, degradation, humiliation, powerlessness, unmanageability and the consequences of relapse in the world of active addiction. Hopefully, these comics will serve as a warning to the recovering person that insanity is what returns with that first drink or drug. We realize that on occasion, people may be offended by some of our comics. It is not our intention, at Recovery Jones, to hurt anyone. However, please be advised that we are not here to candy-coat the reality of active addiction. Our comics have been approved by treatment centers, addictions counselors, clergymen, recovery bookstores, as well as fellow alcoholics/addicts here in Vancouver and abroad. We are also open to publishing some of our comics in recovery newsletters worldwide free of charge.
BOOK 1 - POWERLESS AND UNMANAGEABLE
This book involves addiction at its fullest, including drugs, alcohol, fellowship humour and recovery in general. There are many comics in this book that give a message of recovery that both the addict and the alcoholic will be able to relate to. Addicts/alcoholics have smiled and laughed aloud while reading this book. Although this book has references to drug addiction, we have yet to meet an alcoholic who doesn’t like it, as within its contents there are many references to alcoholism. This book is currently being sold in local recovery bookstores, and it has been approved and endorsed by recovery bookstores in the United States. Comics from this book are also regularly featured in monthly local 12-Step newsletters across North America. This book was written by me (Kevin. K) and co-written and drawn by my friend and artist Michael Jones. Book 1 is currently sold out but will be printed again at a later date.

HOW IT ALL STARTED:
Michael and I ended up in the same treatment center in December 2001. Upon my entry into the treatment center, we ended up being next door neighbors on the third floor . Upon graduation Michael was moved up to the fourth floor (there are approximately 20 rooms on each floor). Several weeks later, I was moved up to the fourth floor and low and behold the room that came open was right next door to Michael again. Was this a coincidence or did the Man upstairs arrange this? Personally, I believe the latter. Anyways, it all started with one comic and two years (and 800 comics) later, here we are.
